Grizzlies guard Ja Morant has joined the NBA's Health and Safety Protocols, the team announced on Wednesday. Morant has been out with a sprained left knee since November 26.

According to the NBA's Health and Safety Protocols, players must be sidelined for at least 10 days or submit two negative tests within 24 hours before they can resume basketball activities. Morant is the latest high-level player to join the Protocols within the past week.

Against the Atlanta Hawks, Morant was injured with about three and a half minutes left in the first quarter. He was on the offensive end when he hobbled.

On his way to the Memphis bench, he hobbled along the baseline. Almost immediately, he was helped back into the Memphis locker room.

Memphis has responded well since Morant's injury - the Grizzlies have won five straight games with a defensive rating of 90.9 - the top defensive rating in the NBA.

Morant, the second pick in the 2019 draft out of Murray State, averages 25.3 points per game and 7.1 assists per game. He was the 2019-20 Kia Rookie of the Year.
