UFC Boss Blasts Superstar Adesanya for His Unusual Remark

Adesanya will face Australia's Whittaker in a rematch at UFC 271 in February. Israel Adesanya is currently the UFC middleweight champion.

It was announced by the UFC and Adesanya's representatives, but there was just one problem: Adesanya said it was a lie. Adesanya responded to the news by tweeting an emoji of a 'cap,' a slang for lying.

During his press conference following UFC 269, Dana White was informed of his superstar fighter's response. He responded in a fiery manner, to say the least. According to White and another UFC executive, Adesanya had signed a written contract prior to the fight.

At UFC 243, Adesanya knocked out Whittaker in the second round to win the Australian's world title. He then attempted to move up to light heavyweight, but failed. At UFC 259, Adesanya lost the title fight against Jan Bachowicz.

Afterwards, he returned to his natural weight and defended his middleweight title against Marvin Vettori. Whittaker, on the other hand, won three straight fights over Till, Cannonier and Gastelum to reclaim the No. 1 contender spot in the middleweight division.

Adesanya's coach hinted two weeks ago that he could face someone else in February so that a massive stadium fight between Whittaker and Adesanya could be set up in Australia later in 2022.
