Anthony Joshua is reportedly close to finalizing a deal for his next fight, which is expected to take place against Jermaine Franklin in London on April 1st.

Franklin's promoter, Dmitriy Salita, has confirmed that negotiations are progressing well and that he is hopeful of reaching a final agreement for the fight soon.

Franklin, a world-class heavyweight from Michigan, made his UK debut in November, where he earned credit for a hard-fought majority decision loss to Dillian Whyte.

The fight is expected to take place at The O2 in London.

Joshua's previous opponents, Australian Demsey McKean and Sweden's Otto Wallin, were both southpaw contenders, but Joshua appears to have chosen Franklin, who has an orthodox fighting style, following back-to-back losses to the southpaw Oleksandr Usyk.

Talks are also at an advanced stage for Usyk to share the ring with WBC king Tyson Fury in the coming months.
