On Monday night, Donovan Mitchell of the Cleveland Cavaliers had a historic performance in the team's overtime win against the Chicago Bulls, scoring a career-high of 71 points while also adding 11 assists and 8 rebounds.

This achievement places Mitchell in exclusive company as only the seventh player in NBA history to score over 70 points in a single game.

During the game, which ended with a score of 145-134 in favor of the Cavaliers, Mitchell played for 50 minutes, shooting 22-of-34 from the field, 7-of-15 from three-point range, and 20-of-25 from the free throw line.

The Cavaliers were without their star point guard, Darius Garland, who was out due to a sprained thumb.

Jarrett Allen contributed 21 points to the team's victory, and Cedi Osman scored 19 points as a bench player. The Cavaliers are now 24-14 for the season.

This impressive performance by Mitchell follows his trade to the Cleveland team in the offseason, and the three-time All-Star is currently averaging career-highs in points (28.0), field goal percentage (48.4%), and three-point percentage (41.1%).

The Cavaliers will next face off against the Phoenix Suns on Wednesday.
