Boxing Star Gervonta 'Tank' Davis Pleads Guilty For Traffic Offenses, Sentencing Set For May 5th Ahead Of Showdown With Ryan Garcia

Gervonta ‘Tank’ Davis has entered a plea deal for four traffic offenses in relation to a hit & run case from 2020.

He will be sentenced on May 5th, but this will not affect his upcoming mega-fight against Ryan Garcia on April 15th on Showtime PPV.

Boxing fans have eagerly anticipated this matchup for two years, but it is still subject to a rematch clause, which may hinder its realization.

The only other significant fight option for Tank after Garcia is against Shakur Stevenson, a challenge in which he would likely have less chance of winning.

Tank needs the Garcia fight to prove his worth after years of fighting lower-tier opponents chosen to minimize his risk of defeat and reduce wear and tear on him.

Ryan’s promoters want to lead the rematch if he wins, but it remains to be seen if Tank's management at PBC & Showtime will grant them this request.

If not, it may suggest a lack of confidence in Tank.

It would be a significant loss for the boxing world if the fight were scrapped due to the rematch clause, as no other alternatives for Tank come close to the level of excitement generated by a matchup against Garcia.
