Islam Makhachev's Team Denies Dan Hooker's Accusation Of IV Use At UFC 284
Following Dan Hooker's accusation that Islam Makhachev used an IV to rehydrate after weighing in for his UFC 284 main event with Alexander Volkanovski, Makhachev's team has come out to deny the claims.
Hooker, a teammate of Volkanovski, called Makhachev a "cheating dog" and accused him of using intravenous (IV) therapy, which is banned by the U.S. Anti-Doping Agency (USADA) and the UFC's drug testing partner.
However, USADA only allows IV infusions or injections for medical procedures, and not for rehydration after weigh-ins.

Makhachev's co-manager, Rizvan Magomedov, issued a statement to MMA Junkie, calling Hooker's accusations "completely BS."
He further dismissed Hooker's statements, calling him a "loser" who was only looking for attention.
Hooker has a history with Makhachev, having been beaten by him in October 2021 in the first round of their fight at UFC 267.
Makhachev won the fight against Volkanovski, the champion of the featherweight division, in a unanimous decision.
The fight took place at RAC Arena in Perth, Australia, and was a champion-vs.-champion showdown.
Makhachev's record is currently 24-1 MMA, with 13-1 in the UFC, while Volkanovski's record is 25-2 MMA, with 12-1 in the UFC.
While accusations of cheating in sports are taken seriously, Makhachev's team has vehemently denied the allegations of IV use, and USADA regulations support their stance.
It remains to be seen if there will be any further fallout from Hooker's statements.
