Jimmy Garoppolo's Future With 49ers Uncertain As Coach Shanahan Rules Out Return
San Francisco 49ers head coach Kyle Shanahan has announced that he does not envision a scenario in which quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo will return to the team in 2023.
This news follows a report by the San Francisco Chronicle that stated it is a "slam dunk" that Garoppolo, who will become a free agent, will not be back with the 49ers.
Garoppolo was traded to the 49ers from the New England Patriots in 2017.

Last year, it appeared that he would be traded after the 49ers named Trey Lance as the starting quarterback for 2022, but the deal never materialized.
Garoppolo ended up back in the starting lineup when Lance suffered a season-ending injury.
He played in 11 games, completing 67.2% of his passes for 16 touchdowns, and 2,437 yards.
Despite being sidelined for the rest of the season with a fractured foot, Garoppolo is expected to have no trouble finding a new team in 2023.
Teams like the Las Vegas Raiders and the New York Jets have expressed interest in him.
