Neymar Ruled Out For The Season After Ankle Surgery, PSG Face Crucial Matches Without Star Striker

Paris Saint-Germain's Brazilian striker, Neymar, will miss the remainder of the season as he is set to undergo surgery.

The injury occurred during the match against Lille on February 19th, where he sprained his right ankle and had to be substituted.

PSG's medical staff had recommended a ligament repair operation after several bouts of instability in his ankle in recent years, which was confirmed by multiple experts consulted.

The surgery is scheduled to take place at the ASPETAR Hospital in Doha in the coming days.

The club has confirmed that Neymar is expected to miss three to four months before returning to collective training.

This news is a significant blow to PSG as they compete in various competitions, including the Champions League, Ligue 1, and the French Cup.

The Brazilian had started and played the entire first leg of the Champions League round of 16 tie against Bayern Munich just days before his injury.

The French side had initially stated that Neymar had a "sprained ankle" and warned that the first examination would not reveal a possible fracture.

However, further tests and consultations led to the decision that surgery was necessary to avoid the risk of recurrence.

Neymar has had several injuries since joining PSG in 2017, including fractures to his foot, but this is the first time he will miss the rest of the season.

It is unfortunate for Neymar and PSG, who had high hopes for the striker to make an impact in the remainder of the season.

The Brazilian has been a key player for PSG, and his absence will be felt, especially during the crucial stages of the competitions.

The club will have to rely on other players to step up and fill the void left by Neymar's absence.
