Israel Adesanya Feels Underestimated And Ready To Remind People of His Greatness Ahead of UFC 287 Championship Rematch Against Alex Pereira
Israel Adesanya, the former UFC middleweight champion, believes he is not being given the respect he deserves as he prepares to enter the octagon once again.
The fight will take place in the main event of UFC 287, airing on pay-per-view following prelims on ESPN and early prelims on ESPN+.
Speaking to reporters, Adesanya expressed his feeling that he is being underestimated and counted out due to the result of his last fight against Pereira, forgetting all of his accomplishments in the sport.
The Last Stylebender lost to Pereira in November at UFC 281 by fifth-round TKO. Although it was their first time fighting in MMA, they had fought twice before in kickboxing, with Pereira winning by decision and knockout.
Adesanya believes that his series against Pereira is one of the greatest in MMA history, spanning across two different combat codes, countries, and years.
He sees himself as the protagonist and Pereira as the antagonist, stating that he is doing much better in life compared to Pereira, who kept trying to change what he already had.
Adesanya believes that this fight is his moment, and he is not looking beyond it, having put everything into this fight and cutting out anything that does not help with it for the last four months.
Adesanya hopes to remind people of his greatness in the octagon by putting on a dominant performance against Pereira.
However, he is aware of the threat that Pereira poses, having beaten him twice before in kickboxing.
Adesanya is focused on the present and the task at hand, and he hopes to come out victorious and claim his title once again.
