NBA Star Kawhi Leonard's Sister Sentenced To Life For Murder of Elderly Woman In Casino Bathroom
Kawhi Leonard's sister, Kimesha Williams, and her accomplice, Candace Townsell, have been sentenced to life imprisonment without parole for the murder of an elderly woman at Pechanga Resort Casino in California in 2019.
Williams is one of the four sisters of Kawhi Leonard, who is not suspected of any involvement in the crime.
Williams and Townsell were convicted of first-degree murder, robbery, and elder abuse in February after a month-long trial.

Leonard, a Los Angeles Clippers player, signed a four-year, $176 million contract with the team before the 2021-22 season.
The victim, Afaf Assad, an 84-year-old woman from Long Beach, was found with a cracked skull on the bathroom floor of the casino.
On August 31, 2019, deputies from the Southwest Sheriff's Station responded to the Pechanga Resort Casino and found Assad unconscious on the bathroom floor.
The elderly woman and her husband had been robbed of $1,000 they were gambling with. Assad died four days later at a local hospital due to serious injuries.
No witnesses saw the attack, but a woman in a stall heard a "thud" before Williams left the bathroom with Townsell. The pink purse belonging to the victim went missing and was never found.
Before the murder, Williams and Townsell were known to officials at the Pechanga Resort and other Inland Empire casinos.
In 2015, Williams was permanently banned from Pechanga after stealing someone's wallet. She was also permanently barred from the Morongo Casino Resort & Spa in Cabazon and the Yaamava Casino in Highland for "ripping winning tickets" out of people's hands.
Townsell had also been banned from the Soboba Casino Resort near San Jacinto in 2017 for 90 days after the disappearance of two purses.
Leonard, a two-time NBA champion with the San Antonio Spurs and Toronto Raptors, has three sisters other than Williams.
His father, Mark Leonard, was shot and killed in Compton in 2008. The murderer has yet to be found.
Leonard is known for keeping a low profile outside of basketball. He rarely provides interviews and avoids questions about his private life.
Leonard is currently ruled out of the Clippers' first-round series matchup against the Phoenix Suns in the NBA playoffs after sustaining a right knee sprain.
