UFC's Khamzat Chimaev Fires Back at Critics And Targets Fellow Fighters Ahead of UFC 287
Khamzat Chimaev, an undefeated UFC fighter, has been targeting multiple fighters on the UFC roster ahead of Saturday’s UFC 287 event in Miami, Florida.
He used a series of tweets to troll his fellow fighters, including the middleweight champion, Alex Pereira, and Jorge Masvidal, both of whom have previously criticised him in the media.
Pereira had accused Chimaev of turning down a fight at 205lbs, which Chimaev denied, responding that he had offered to fight Pereira at 205lbs at UFC 283 in Rio.
Chimaev also challenged Masvidal to "wake up to reality boy" after Masvidal questioned his longevity in the sport and hinted that he may have taken steroids.
Chimaev also took aim at Gilbert Burns, who he fought in a highly acclaimed bout at UFC 273, with a Hasbulla meme.
Chimaev won the unanimous decision in the bout, but Burns proved that he was not invincible.
Colby Covington, who is rumoured to be the next in line for welterweight champion Leon Edwards, was also targeted by Chimaev.
Covington has been highly critical of Chimaev, labelling him as "unprofessional" and a "dogface", which finally elicited a response from the undefeated fighter.
It remains unclear which division Chimaev will compete in next, given that he missed weight by 8.5 lbs for his most recent booked fight against Nate Diaz.
As a result, Dana White altered the card, pitting Chimaev against Kevin Holland, whom he defeated easily with a first-round submission, while Diaz fought Tony Ferguson.
Chimaev's tweets have added a layer of drama and anticipation to the already stacked card, which features some of the UFC's most notable names.
