Canelo Alvarez Dismisses Conor McGregor's Boxing Challenge, Stating He Would Win With One Hand

Canelo Alvarez dismisses the idea of a boxing match against Conor McGregor, stating that he could defeat the former UFC champion with just one hand.

The Mexican fighter believes McGregor lacks the necessary skills to compete against a world-class boxer.

McGregor's previous boxing encounter against Floyd Mayweather Jr. in 2017, which ended in a 10th-round stoppage, was widely regarded as underwhelming and disappointing for fans who spent $100 on pay-per-view, hoping for a competitive fight.

With McGregor's recent struggles in mixed martial arts, having lost three of his last four matches, his ability to secure high-profile boxing matches has diminished.

McGregor no longer possesses the same level of influence and appeal to secure a fight against someone like Canelo. If McGregor intends to face a boxer, he will likely have to target lesser-known opponents in the hopes of generating interest and pay-per-view buys.

Canelo Alvarez remains focused on his upcoming fight against Dmitry Bivol and has no intention of lowering his standards by engaging in fights against MMA fighters, similar to Mayweather's exhibition matches.

Eddie Hearn, Canelo's promoter, expressed their desire for a matchup with Bivol but acknowledges that other options will be explored if the fight cannot be made.

Canelo prefers the fight to take place at 175 pounds, where he previously suffered a loss, while Bivol initially wanted a bout at 168 pounds for the undisputed title, although the WBC has indicated they won't sanction it due to Bivol's Russian nationality.

Ultimately, Canelo's plans revolve around securing the Bivol fight, but they remain open to alternatives if necessary.

Hearn will continue negotiations with Bivol's team while keeping other options in mind. Canelo's main objective is to pursue meaningful and challenging fights that showcase his skills as a top-tier boxer.
