Jorge Masvidal Sr., the father of retired UFC star Jorge Masvidal, was arrested in South Florida after allegedly shooting someone in a domestic dispute at the fighter's Miami home.

Although Masvidal Jr. is not considered a suspect, police swarmed the star's home after the shooting.

Masvidal Sr. was taken into custody and accused of the shooting, according to a senior law enforcement official. The victim, who has not been identified, was transported to the hospital and is in stable condition.

Investigators believe the victim was shot in an upper extremity, possibly the arm, and are treating the incident as a domestic dispute.

The shooting occurred just days after Masvidal Jr.'s fourth straight defeat in the co-main event against Gilbert Burns at UFC 287.

Masvidal Jr. retires with an MMA record of 35-17 dating back to 2003. During his long career in the Octagon, his signature moment was his five-second knockout of Ben Askren with a flying knee at UFC 239 in 2019, which remains the fastest win in UFC history.

Following his most recent loss, Masvidal Jr. expressed gratitude for his fans and the support he had received throughout his 20-year career.

The incident at Masvidal's home has brought attention to the issue of domestic violence in the MMA community.

While domestic violence can happen in any profession, the physical nature of MMA makes it particularly concerning.

Many MMA fighters have spoken out against domestic violence and called for stronger measures to prevent it.

The incident involving Masvidal Sr. serves as a reminder that everyone must do their part to prevent domestic violence and protect victims.
