Shaquille O'Neal Teams Up With Blackway For "King Talk," His First Rap Song In Decades
NBA legend Shaquille O'Neal has made a comeback to the rap scene with his first release since the '90s.
"King Talk," a collaboration with rising hip-hop artist Blackway, was produced by Koko and features a full verse from O'Neal.
The former basketball player says that the song's lyrics and vibe were perfect for the moment when LeBron James set the NBA scoring record.

O'Neal first teased the song on his social media channels in February 2023 with an animated video to celebrate James' achievement.
In a statement shared with PEOPLE, O'Neal revealed that he and Koko had been exchanging beats for a while, but he knew he had to jump on "King Talk" when he first heard it. The Lakers legend says the record gets him hyped, like he's walking out for Game 7 of the finals.
O'Neal added that he had been waiting for the perfect opportunity to collaborate with Blackway and this was it.
Blackway, a Ghanaian-American afrobeat and hip-hop artist, caught O'Neal's attention before they started working together.
In 2018, his song "What's Up Danger" with Black Caviar was featured in Spider-Man: Into The Spider-Verse.
Blackway is currently working on his own EP release and recently released his latest solo single "Lion" in March.
Many fans were thrilled to hear O'Neal's return to music, and the teaser for "King Talk" received an overwhelmingly positive response on social media.
O'Neal says that it was crazy to see so many people connect with the song, just like he did when they created it.
The lyrics, "Bow down and kiss the ring," are a fitting tribute to the former NBA star's reign on the court. In his own words, "a king recognizes a king."
