Discussions are underway regarding Canelo Alvarez's next fight in September, with Jermall Charlo being mentioned as one of the potential options.

However, no concrete decision has been made yet, and there is a possibility that Canelo may choose to face WBC cruiserweight champion Badou Jack instead.

Salvador Rodriguez of ESPN Deportes speculates about the matchup between Canelo (59-2-2, 39 KOs) and the inactive Jermall (32-0, 22 KOs), although his information appears to be speculative.

Rodriguez acknowledges in his article that Badou Jack is still a viable possibility, indicating that he is uncertain about Canelo's next opponent. Therefore, fans who believe that Canelo will fight Jermall should hold back their excitement, as he has not revealed his decision yet.

Stephen Espinoza of Showtime has also cast doubt on the report, stating that Canelo's team is still considering various options and has not definitively chosen to face the undefeated Charlo. While the identity of Canelo's next opponent remains unknown, it would not be ideal for his reputation if he were to fight Jermall or Badou.

Jermall has been dealing with personal issues and has not fought since 2021, which could lead to Canelo being criticized for cherry-picking his opponents. Additionally, WBC cruiserweight champion Badou Jack, who is about to turn 40, does not have a significant fan base in the United States.

Stephen Espinoza's comments further dampen the Canelo-Charlo speculation, highlighting that discussions are ongoing and no significant decisions have been made yet. He expresses his satisfaction with the inclusion of Charlo and Benavidez in the conversation, as those are the fights he personally wants to see the most.

However, it is clear that Team Canelo is still in the early stages of evaluating their options and determining the direction they will take. While the discussions are encouraging and there are enticing possibilities, it is important to temper expectations at this point.
