Reports indicate that Kyle Kuzma, who had an outstanding scoring season, has chosen not to renew his contract with the Washington Wizards, making him a free agent in the upcoming offseason.

According to a source familiar with the matter, Kuzma declined his $13 million player option for the next season, although the details were not officially disclosed. This decision aligns with Kuzma's previous statements to The Washington Post and The Athletic in December, where he expressed his intention not to exercise the option.

Considering his performance and potential market value, it is a logical move for the player. Having just completed his most productive season in terms of scoring, Kuzma averaged an impressive 21.2 points per game for the Wizards.

The team is currently finalizing a trade that will send Bradley Beal, a three-time All-Star, to the Phoenix Suns. Given Kuzma's significant contributions, there is a possibility that he may negotiate a highly lucrative deal to return to Washington.

A player averaging over 20 points per game at a price of $13 million would be considered an extraordinary steal. While Kuzma prepares to explore his options as a free agent, the Toronto Raptors made an announcement of their own.

Guard Gary Trent Jr. has decided to exercise his $18.5 million option for the upcoming season, choosing not to become a free agent. Trent demonstrated consistency by averaging 17.4 points during the past season, marking his third consecutive season with at least 15 points per game.

Throughout his career with the Raptors and the Portland Trail Blazers, Trent has maintained an average of 14.4 points. The opening of the free agency period is set for June 30th, providing an opportunity for teams and players to negotiate contracts and potentially reshape their rosters.

Both Kuzma and Trent's decisions will undoubtedly generate interest among NBA teams seeking to strengthen their squads with talented players who have showcased their scoring prowess on the court.
