LeBron James' response to Kyrie Irving's request for him to join the Dallas Mavericks has been revealed in a recent report.

According to Brandon "Scoop B" Robinson, when Irving reached out to James and proposed the idea, James replied that he would consider it.

This revelation has sparked speculation about Irving's true intentions, with some suggesting that he might be attempting to make his way to James' current team, the Los Angeles Lakers.

However, sources close to the situation have insisted that Irving's desire is to remain with the Mavericks. Irving is set to become a free agent soon, and there have been rumors circulating that he wishes to reunite with James.

The duo previously won an NBA championship together as members of the Cleveland Cavaliers in 2016 and reportedly maintain a friendship to this day.

Meanwhile, the Lakers are facing important decisions regarding their own free agents, including D'Angelo Russell, Austin Reaves, and Rui Hachimura. The team is prioritizing keeping Reaves and Hachimura, while there are also voices within the organization advocating for the retention of Russell.

However, Russell's performance during the Lakers' Western Conference Finals sweep by the Denver Nuggets was underwhelming, leading some to question whether it is wise to retain him.

Bringing in Irving could potentially come at the cost of team depth and result in an imbalanced roster with aging and marginal players filling out the remaining spots. Given the level of talent across the league, such a roster construction would face significant challenges in winning a championship.

James hinted at the possibility of retiring this offseason following the Nuggets series, which some speculate could be a strategic move to exert pressure on Lakers management to pursue Irving.

The team previously attempted to acquire Irving last summer and again during the middle of the current season, but he was ultimately traded to the Brooklyn Nets.
