In the midst of trade rumors surrounding Jordan Poole, the Golden State Warriors are facing critical decisions this offseason, particularly with the player option decline of Draymond Green on Monday.

The future of Poole, a young guard, seems uncertain. However, the team's new General Manager, Mike Dunleavy Jr., downplayed the speculations and expressed the organization's intention to retain Poole for the long term.

This affirmation is backed by Poole's significant four-year, $140 million contract extension inked in October of the previous year. Dunleavy emphasized, "Jordan, especially with his contract extension, we plan to have him around for four more years at least."

While this statement suggests the Warriors' commitment to keeping Poole, it does not exclude the possibility of trading him if it improves their competitive position.

The truth remains that Poole's performance in the 2023 playoffs was disappointing, with underwhelming averages of 10.3 points, 3.5 assists, and 2.2 rebounds per game, along with a mere 25% shooting accuracy from beyond the arc. As a consequence, he was limited to starting only four out of the 13 postseason games.

Moreover, Poole's attitude issues are no secret, and it is evident that he and Draymond had a strained relationship following an altercation before the season began. However, Poole's trade value has plummeted due to his lackluster playoff showing, making it challenging for the Warriors to part ways with him.

On a more positive note, Poole's regular-season performance showcased promise, as he averaged an impressive 20.4 points per game. He has demonstrated the potential to be a vital asset for the Warriors franchise.

For now, it appears the team intends to retain him, but the uncertainty of the offseason looms, and unforeseen developments could alter the course of events.
