Joao Cancelo's Bayern Munich Exit: Unveiling The 'Non-Footballing' Reasons Behind The Decision

Thomas Tuchel has revealed that Joao Cancelo's departure from Bayern Munich was not due to "footballing reasons."

While Cancelo made an impact during his loan spell, securing two assists in his initial appearances, he experienced sporadic selections in Tuchel's starting eleven, leaving him frustrated.

Before joining Bayern, Cancelo's falling out with Pep Guardiola at Manchester City was well-known, though there were no reported issues during his stay in Munich.

Despite Cancelo's contributions, Bayern did not consider a permanent deal, as there was no buy-on clause in his loan agreement, and City valued him at 70-million euros. Tuchel clarified that the decision not to pursue the right-back on a permanent basis was unrelated to his footballing abilities.

He mentioned the return of Davies from injury and the signing of Guerreiro as factors contributing to the decision. The reasons behind the non-pursuit of Cancelo remain unclear.

It's possible that issues between the player and the coaching staff or dressing room dynamics played a role. Having been brought in by Julian Nagelsmann before his departure and then adapting to Tuchel's management could have been a factor.

While Tuchel appreciates Cancelo's talents, he felt Bayern had enough defensive options for the upcoming season.

Currently, Cancelo is strongly linked to a potential move to Arsenal before the summer transfer window closes, but no concrete developments have occurred yet.
