Pascal Siakam, the talented forward of the Toronto Raptors, has emerged as a subject of considerable trade speculation in the NBA.

Following the departure of Fred VanVleet, Siakam's future with the Raptors appears uncertain. According to Michael Grange of Sportsnet, Siakam's name has consistently cropped up in trade discussions, with the Atlanta Hawks being one of the teams showing significant interest.

During the 2022-23 season, Siakam showcased his skills by averaging an impressive 24.2 points, 7.8 rebounds, and 5.8 assists in 71 games. This performance earned him his second All-Star selection, solidifying his status as a valuable asset.

Standing at 6'9", Siakam is entering the final year of his current four-year contract. The Atlanta Hawks could potentially be a favorable destination for Siakam if the Raptors decide to make him available for trade.

With the recent departure of John Collins, acquiring Siakam would provide Trae Young with a potent offensive weapon, potentially elevating the team's performance. The Hawks, who finished the 2022-23 season with a 41-41 record and suffered a first-round playoff defeat against the Boston Celtics, are keen to improve their roster.

However, there is a caveat to any potential deal involving Siakam. According to Chris Haynes of Bleacher Report, Siakam has expressed his preference to remain with the Toronto Raptors in the long term.

He has stated that he would not re-sign with any team that trades for him, which could diminish his trade value. Teams may view him as a rental rather than a cornerstone piece to build around.

The Raptors themselves seem to be considering a different direction, potentially leaning towards a full rebuild. Having missed the playoffs in two out of the past three seasons and finishing the 2022-23 season with a 41-41 record, they are likely assessing their options for a fresh start.

Siakam's current contract will see him earn $37.8 million in the 2023-24 season. As the trade market continues to buzz with speculation surrounding Pascal Siakam, it remains to be seen whether the Raptors will part ways with their talented forward or choose to retain him as they embark on a new chapter.
