The match was a WBO welterweight world title defense for Crawford. After the ninth round, Crawford's corner informed him that he was trailing on the scorecards against Porter.

The referee swiftly called off the fight, declaring Crawford the winner by knockout. During the corner footage from the fight, Crawford's trainer, Brian McIntyre, urged him to pay attention and emphasized the need to step up in the coming rounds.

Crawford seemed incredulous that he was behind on the scorecards and sought clarification multiple times before proceeding to fight back with an impressive display of skill.

Interestingly, it was later revealed that Crawford was, in fact, leading on all three judges' scorecards going into the tenth round. It appeared that McIntyre had motivated Crawford by telling him he was losing, leading to a remarkable display of determination and skill from the Nebraska native.

Following this triumph, Crawford set his sights on an even bigger challenge: a showdown with Errol Spence Jr. for the undisputed welterweight world titles. Crawford assured fans that they could expect nothing less than his best performance, promising fireworks in what was anticipated to be an extraordinary clash between two top boxing talents.
