Former NFL Running Back Alex Collins Dies at 28 In Tragic Motorcycle Crash

Former NFL running back Alex Collins has tragically passed away at the age of 28 due to a fatal motorcycle crash, according to officials.

Collins had a notable career, having played for both the Seattle Seahawks and Baltimore Ravens from 2016 to 2021. Expressing their grief, the Ravens and head coach John Harbaugh shared heartfelt statements commemorating Collins' life and impact on the field.

Harbaugh highlighted Collins' uplifting spirit and significant contributions to the Ravens' success during his time with the team. The Ravens emphasized Collins' kindness and joyful demeanor, underscoring his ability to spread positivity wherever he went.

The Seahawks also expressed their sorrow over the loss of Collins. The tragic accident occurred in Lauderdale Lakes, Florida, where Collins' motorcycle collided with an SUV that was making a left turn.

The collision led to Collins entering the rear passenger side window of the SUV before coming to a rest inside the vehicle. The SUV also rotated before coming to a final stop. 

Tragically, Collins was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident.
The SUV's driver remained at the scene and cooperated with authorities. As of now, the crash remains under investigation. 

Collins' football journey began at Arkansas, where he established himself as a standout running back. He was selected by the Seahawks in the fifth round of the 2016 NFL Draft and played one season with them before joining the Ravens.


After two seasons in Baltimore, he returned to Seattle and later participated in the USFL in 2023. Daryl Johnston, the USFL's president of football operations, expressed the league's devastation at Collins' passing.

Johnston described Collins as a passionate football player, a dedicated teammate, and a positive ambassador for the game. The USFL community extended their deepest condolences to Collins' family, friends, and teammates, honoring the incredible talents and contributions he brought to the sport.
