Former NFL Star Michael Oher Takes Legal Action Against Tennessee Couple Featured In 'The Blind Side'
Former NFL player Michael Oher, famously portrayed in the movie "The Blind Side," is taking legal action against the Tennessee couple, Leigh Anne and Sean Tuohy, who took him in during his teenage years.
In a recently filed lawsuit, Oher, now 37, claims that the Tuohys deceived him into signing away control of his financial matters, alleging that they established a conservatorship to profit from his name rather than legally adopting him as he believed.
The lawsuit seeks to dissolve the conservatorship and highlights that the Tuohys capitalized on his success in "The Blind Side," which grossed over $300 million at the box office and earned Sandra Bullock an Oscar. The film depicts Oher's journey from foster homes to NFL success under the Tuohys' care.

However, Oher's legal petition argues that the premise of his adoption by the Tuohys, as shown in the movie, is untrue. Oher discovered the deception in February 2023 and claims the Conservators manipulated public perception to gain financial benefits.
The lawsuit aims to prevent the Tuohys from using Oher's name and likeness and seeks financial compensation for unpaid profits and damages. Sean Tuohy responded to the lawsuit, expressing devastation over the allegations.
He acknowledged the conservatorship arrangement but maintained it was established in good faith based on legal advice, involving Oher's biological mother. The Tuohys insisted that they did not make significant profits from the movie, receiving only around $14,000 each from the author's share.
The legal battle sheds light on the complexities of Oher's relationship with the Tuohys, showcasing the disconnect between his real-life experiences and the portrayal in the acclaimed film.
