New Orleans Saints' Alvin Kamara Suspended For 3 Games Following No Contest Plea In Las Vegas Nightclub Altercation
New Orleans Saints' running back Alvin Kamara has been suspended for three games due to a violation of the NFL's personal conduct policy.
This suspension follows his no contest plea in connection with a fight that occurred at a Las Vegas nightclub in February 2022. The league's announcement came on Friday.
During the Saints' training camp media availability, Kamara, 28, expressed accountability for his involvement in the incident. He admitted to making a poor decision and acknowledged the embarrassment he caused to the Saints organization, his family, the city, and the NFL.
Kamara, along with three other individuals, including Indianapolis Colts cornerback Christopher Lammons, were apprehended by Las Vegas Metropolitan Police in February 2022 and faced charges that were later pressed this year. Lammons, like Kamara, received a three-game suspension for his role in the altercation.
According to court records, Kamara entered a "no contest" plea in July for a misdemeanor breach of peace charge. He agreed to pay a $500 fine, cover the victim's medical expenses, and complete 30 hours of community service. His attorney, David Chesnoff, confirmed these details.
Kamara revealed that he had met with NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell in New York prior to the announcement. He admitted that the incident had taken a toll on his mental well-being, finances, and relationships over the past 17 months.
Looking forward, Kamara will be eligible to rejoin the team in Week 4, where they will face off against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. He is entering his seventh NFL season after being drafted by the Saints in the third round of the 2017 NFL Draft from the University of Tennessee.
During the previous season, Kamara, a five-time Pro Bowler, played 15 games, accumulating 897 rushing yards and two touchdowns.
