Patriots' Malik Cunningham made a remarkable debut as a quarterback, despite initially being signed by the New England Patriots to play as a wide receiver.

A former undrafted free agent from Louisville, Cunningham's college experience as a quarterback prompted the Patriots to transition him into a wide receiver role during his time with the team. Although primarily a wide receiver during training camp, Cunningham's skill at quarterback caught the attention of the Patriots' coaching staff, leading to his utilization in game situations.

In the recent preseason match against the Houston Texans, Cunningham took the reins as quarterback during the fourth quarter. He showcased his ability by completing 3 out of 4 passes for 19 yards and impressively leading the team in rushing yards with 34, including a touchdown – the sole touchdown for the team in the game.

Despite the transition between positions, Cunningham expressed his readiness to contribute in any capacity required by the Patriots, reflecting his team-oriented mindset. The young athlete's potential impact on the Patriots' offense has sparked excitement, as he could be vying for a spot as the third quarterback or even contending for a wide receiver position on the depth chart.
