In a thrilling NFL matchup, Christian McCaffrey showcased his exceptional talent by equaling Jerry Rice's illustrious San Francisco 49ers touchdown record.

This remarkable feat occurred during the 49ers' dominant 30-12 victory over the New York Giants. McCaffrey, at the age of 27, scored a pivotal touchdown in the second quarter, thus matching the impressive 12-game touchdown streak set by three-time Super Bowl champion Jerry Rice back in 1987.

Remarkably, McCaffrey now stands just three touchdowns away from the all-time NFL record, currently held jointly by former Washington full-back John Riggins and ex-Buffalo Bills running back OJ Simpson. Expressing his gratitude for this achievement, McCaffrey stated, "The record was a huge honor," acknowledging that scoring touchdowns is a collective effort.

He commended the offensive line's blocking, emphasizing that his role was to capitalize on their efforts. Jerry Rice, widely regarded as the greatest wide receiver in NFL history, not only shares this remarkable 49ers touchdown record but also holds the NFL record for career touchdowns with an astounding 208.

Additionally, this victory marked the 49ers' 13th consecutive regular-season win, a remarkable achievement in its own right. It also solidified quarterback Brock Purdy's status as a rising star in the league.

Purdy, at the age of 23, has now won the first eight regular-season games of his NFL career, ranking as the third-longest streak in NFL history. During this game, Purdy demonstrated his prowess by connecting for touchdown passes with Ronnie Bell in the second quarter and Deebo Samuel in the fourth.

His exceptional performance saw him amass a career-high of 310 passing yards. Purdy's journey to NFL success has been nothing short of remarkable.

Initially starting his rookie season as the third-choice quarterback, injuries to Trey Lance and Jimmy Garoppolo provided him with the opportunity to shine. His only setback since then was a loss in last season's playoffs during the NFC Championship game against the Philadelphia Eagles in January.

As the 49ers continue their quest for excellence, Purdy's star continues to rise, promising an exciting future for both him and the team.
