Tragically, Myrtle Brown's lifeless body was found near her residence in Maywood, specifically in Addison Creek, on the same Saturday afternoon. Throughout late Saturday afternoon, a collaborative effort between Maywood police and neighboring suburban agencies commenced, with an extensive search operation spanning Addison Creek and its vicinity.

Early on Saturday, the family members had made several attempts to reach out to both the Maywood Police Department and the nearby Melrose Park Police Department, given that the creek traverses this area, to report the disappearance of both mother and son. In a bid to intensify the search and seek assistance from the wider community, Sergio's brother, Nick Brown, also Myrtle's son, took to social media, specifically Facebook, to appeal for help in locating the missing duo.

Sergio Brown, aged 35, boasts a football background, having played at Proviso East High School in Maywood and later at Notre Dame. He ascended to the NFL as an undrafted free agent in 2010, signing with the New England Patriots.

His professional football career spanned six seasons, featuring stints with teams such as New England, Indianapolis, Atlanta, Jacksonville, and Buffalo, culminating in his retirement in 2016. Notably, Sergio Brown's Instagram account reveals his involvement in hosting a local youth football camp at Proviso East High School in July.

The investigation into this perplexing situation remains ongoing, with law enforcement authorities dedicated to unraveling the circumstances surrounding Sergio Brown's disappearance and the tragic discovery of his mother. Community members possessing relevant information are encouraged to come forward and share it with the Maywood Police Department through their anonymous tip line at (708) 450-1787.
