The National Football League (NFL) is scrutinizing the Cincinnati Bengals for not listing quarterback Joe Burrow on their injury report prior to Thursday night's game against the Baltimore Ravens.
Burrow exited the match in the second quarter due to a wrist injury, leading to the end of his season. A source familiar with the matter revealed this development to The Associated Press on Friday.
The Bengals had initially posted, then deleted, a video on social media depicting Burrow disembarking from the team bus with his right hand appearing to be in a soft cast. However, Burrow clarified on Friday that he was wearing a compression sleeve unrelated to his season-ending injury, citing common practices among players to prevent swelling during flights.

The NFL routinely reviews such cases, and violating the league's injury report policy could result in fines or the loss of a draft pick for the team. Bengals coach Zac Taylor, unaware of Burrow's hand condition on the bus, announced the quarterback's need for surgery due to a torn ligament in his throwing wrist.
Burrow's departure from the game occurred after successfully throwing a touchdown pass to Joe Mixon. Despite practicing fully throughout the week and a positive pregame warmup, Burrow's attempt at a practice throw on the sideline revealed the severity of his injury.
ESPN.com first reported the NFL investigation into the Bengals, who currently hold a 5-5 record. This unfortunate incident marks the second time in Burrow's four-year NFL career that a Week 11 game has resulted in a season-ending injury; he suffered a torn ACL and MCL in his left knee during his rookie year in 2020.
