Golden State Warriors coach, Steve Kerr, expressed disapproval of Draymond Green's recent altercation with Rudy Gobert, stating that Green "took it too far."

The NBA's decision to hand down a five-game suspension was deemed deserved by Kerr, who emphasized the need for Green to avoid crossing into inexcusable physical violence.

Kerr acknowledged Green's wrongdoing, addressing the incident before the Warriors' game against the Oklahoma City Thunder. The NBA cited Green's "history of unsportsmanlike acts" in determining the suspension's length.

The altercation unfolded early in the first quarter during a game against the Minnesota Timberwolves. Following a shoving match between Klay Thompson and Jaden McDaniels, Green intervened, putting Gobert in a headlock.

The league described Green's actions as "an unsportsmanlike and dangerous manner." Kerr, while understanding the initial intervention, criticized the prolonged nature of Green's hold on Gobert.

The coach emphasized the negative impact on the league's image and urged Green to exercise better judgment in such situations.

In addition to the suspension, Thompson, McDaniels, and Gobert received $25,000 fines each. However, Green faces the most significant consequences, both in terms of missed games and financial penalties, with a forfeiture of $769,704 in salary.

Known for his intense playing style, Green has a history of pushing boundaries. Kerr revealed that the team is actively working with Green to rein in his behavior, stressing the importance of preventing physical acts of violence and maintaining a clear distinction between competitiveness and unacceptable conduct.
