In a surprising turn of events, Baltimore Ravens' quarterback Lamar Jackson was absent from Thursday's practice due to an undisclosed illness, as reported by NFL Network's Ian Rapoport.

Jackson, a former MVP, has been a key player in all 12 games this season, contributing to the Ravens' impressive 9-3 record. Currently leading the AFC North, the Ravens share the same number of wins as the conference's No. 1 seed, the Miami Dolphins.

While Jackson's availability for Week 14 remains uncertain, the Ravens are determined to secure a first-round bye against the formidable Los Angeles Rams on Sunday.

After recovering from a PCL injury that sidelined him at the end of the 2022 season, the 26-year-old quarterback has showcased remarkable form, boasting a career-high 68.3% completion rate with 2,618 passing yards, 13 touchdowns, and just five interceptions. His dual-threat prowess is evident with 574 rushing yards and five scores.

In the event Jackson is unable to play, backup quarterback Tyler Huntley, a proven and reliable reserve, would step in. Huntley, a Pro Bowl selection last season, played a crucial role in guiding the Ravens to the playoffs in 2022.

Facing the Rams' defense, known for its solidity despite a lack of consistent pass rush, will be a challenge for either Jackson or Huntley. The Rams currently possess the league's 15th-ranked pass defense but have recorded just 27 sacks, ranking ninth-worst in the NFL.

As the Ravens navigate the uncertainty surrounding Jackson's health, all eyes will be on the quarterback situation leading up to this critical matchup against the Rams.
