In a setback for the San Antonio Spurs, rookie sensation Victor Wembanyama will be absent from Tuesday night's clash against the Milwaukee Bucks due to right ankle soreness, as announced by the team on Monday.

Although listed on the injury report, Wembanyama's hiatus is expected to be short-term, with the injury deemed day-to-day.

The 7-foot center, who recently played a pivotal role in the Spurs' Sunday match against the New Orleans Pelicans, contributing 17 points, 13 rebounds, 4 assists, and 4 blocks in 31 minutes, will be missing only his second game of the season.

His absence in the December 1 matchup against the Pelicans was attributed to right hip tightness.

Wembanyama's performance has been nothing short of spectacular this season, boasting averages of 19.0 points, 11.0 rebounds, 3.0 blocks, and 2.7 assists per game across 24 appearances.

Notably, since his transition to the center position, his numbers have soared in the past five games, with an impressive average of 19.2 points, 15.8 rebounds, 4.2 blocks, and 3.6 assists per game.

Undeniably making his mark, Wembanyama recently etched his name in NBA history by securing eight consecutive double-doubles, solidifying his status as the youngest player to achieve this feat.

Despite the setback, Spurs fans remain optimistic about Wembanyama's swift return to the court. The team is set to face the Chicago Bulls on Thursday night, continuing their three-game road trip against the Dallas Mavericks on Saturday.
