Head Coach Chris Finch, in a historic moment for the Minnesota Timberwolves, has been chosen to lead the Western Conference All-Stars in the forthcoming 73rd NBA All-Star Game, scheduled for Indianapolis.

Finch secured this coaching honor after the Timberwolves' convincing 111-90 victory against the Houston Rockets. This achievement not only marks Finch's first All-Star Head Coach appointment but also adds his name to the exclusive list of Minnesota coaches who have led the West All-Stars.

The only other coach from the Timberwolves to achieve this distinction was Flip Saunders in 2004, who guided the team to victory in Los Angeles.

In his fourth season at the helm, Finch has propelled the Timberwolves to a remarkable 35-15 record, tying the franchise's best 50-game start to a season (35 wins in 2003-04). The coach's stellar performance earned him the Western Conference Coach of the Month award for October and November 2023.

Finch, hired on Feb. 22, 2021, has notched up 139 total wins over the last four seasons, ranking second in team history behind Flip Saunders. His .545 winning percentage stands as the franchise's best among head coaches.

Achieving his 100th career win after a victory against the Golden State Warriors on Mar. 26, 2023, Finch joined Saunders as one of only two coaches in Timberwolves history with 100 or more victories.

The Reading, Pennsylvania native has steered the Timberwolves to consecutive playoff appearances, breaking a streak that dates back to 1997-2004. With 42 wins last season and 46 in 2021-22, Minnesota has achieved 40+ wins in back-to-back seasons for the first time since the 2003-04 and 2004-05 campaigns.
