After just a week at the helm, Doc Rivers, the newly appointed head coach of the Milwaukee Bucks, has clinched the Eastern Conference coaching spot for the 2024 NBA All-Star Game in a surprising turn of events.

The Bucks sealed the deal with a remarkable 129-117 comeback victory against the Dallas Mavericks on Saturday.

Rivers, set to coach in his fourth All-Star Game, earned the position by boasting the best record among eligible Eastern Conference coaches as of February 4.

Despite securing the honor, questions arise given that Saturday's win marked Rivers' first victory in three attempts with the Bucks.

Adding a unique twist to the story, Rivers has announced his intention to share the All-Star coaching privileges with former Bucks head coach Adrian Griffin, who was unexpectedly fired last month despite the team holding a commendable 30-13 record at the time.

Rivers plans to pass on his All-Star ring and coaching share to Griffin as a gesture of recognition.

Meanwhile, in the Western Conference, Chris Finch of the Minnesota Timberwolves earned the coaching role after his team secured the best record (35-15) through February 4.

Finch's accomplishment marks the first time a Timberwolves coach will lead the All-Star Game since Flip Saunders in 2004. (SOURCE: Yahoo Sports)
