On the eve of the All-Star break, Warriors' sharpshooter Klay Thompson made his first appearance off the bench since his rookie year in 2012 in a strategic move.

Contrary to any expectations of disappointment, Thompson responded with a season-high 35 points, showcasing his offensive prowess with a remarkable 7-for-13 from beyond the arc.

Warriors' coach Steve Kerr expressed satisfaction with the change, hinting at a potential continued use of Thompson in a sixth man role. Kerr stated, "Klay coming off the bench gives us a lot of firepower. We'll give it a little look and we'll see where it goes from there."

Thompson's scoring outburst, especially in the first 18 minutes, has prompted consideration for a regular sixth man role. The move could address the challenges Thompson faced in the starting lineup, where his performance has struggled this season, contributing to a team deficit when he's on the court.

The adjustment not only provides Thompson with the opportunity to rest his legs but also adds offensive versatility to the second unit. Rookie Brandin Podziemski, who filled Thompson's starting position, has showcased his excellence throughout the season, potentially forming a potent pairing with Thompson off the bench.

While Thompson acknowledges the need to get out of his own head, the move to a sixth man role may offer him the freedom to play his game without the added pressure. This shift in strategy allows the Warriors to capitalize on Thompson's scoring ability while providing flexibility to adapt to different game scenarios.

As the Warriors evaluate this new dynamic, Klay Thompson's explosive performance off the bench raises questions about whether the sixth man role could be the key to unlocking his full potential and bolstering the team's championship aspirations. (SOURCE: CBS Sports)
