Drafted by the Los Angeles Lakers, his journey took a significant turn as he was traded to the Memphis Grizzlies, where he etched his name in the franchise's history.

His decade-long tenure with the Grizzlies saw him break records, earn All-Rookie Second Team honors, and establish himself as a force in the league. A pivotal moment came in 2019 when Gasol joined the Toronto Raptors, contributing to their NBA championship victory over the Golden State Warriors.

Returning to the Lakers for the COVID-abbreviated 2020-21 season, Gasol eventually found his way back to Spain, signing with Bàsquet Girona, a club he founded in 2014. His impact on the international stage is equally commendable, with notable achievements in the Olympics and FIBA competitions.

As Gasol hangs up his jersey, the basketball world reflects on a player who earned three All-Star nods, Defensive Player of the Year honors, and All-NBA distinctions. The Grizzlies are set to retire his iconic No. 33 jersey, honoring a career that transcended borders and left an indelible mark on the sport. (Source: Yahoo Sports)
