Bennedict Mathurin of the Indiana Pacers showcased exceptional skill and confidence, turning his bold pre-game prediction into reality by clinching the MVP title and leading Team Jalen to victory at the 2024 Panini Rising Stars event held at Gainbridge Fieldhouse.
Hours before the game, Mathurin boldly stated his intentions, declaring, "I'm trying to win, especially in Indy. I'm trying to get MVP." True to his word, Mathurin orchestrated a stellar performance, propelling Team Jalen to a 26-13 championship victory over Team Detlef.
The second-year guard, drafted sixth overall in 2023, showcased his versatility, contributing 22 points, two rebounds, and two assists across two games. The Rising Stars MVP not only etched his name in the event's history but also became the first Pacer to receive this prestigious accolade.

Former Pacer Jalen Rose, coaching Mathurin's squad, praised the rising star, stating, "(Mathurin) wanted to be special." Mathurin's impact extended beyond the MVP award, as fans echoed MVP chants within the Fieldhouse during his outstanding performance.
Mathurin's journey to victory included a 40-35 win against Team Tamika in the first game, where he scored 18 of the team's final 27 points. Team Jalen's success continued in the finals, closing with a 10-0 run, securing the championship with a game-winning 3-pointer by Jalen Williams.

The Rising Stars event featured prominent figures, including former Pacers Jalen Rose and Tamika Catchings, along with Hall-of-Famer Pau Gasol as coaches. The games were played to a Final Target Score, with the finals set at 25 points.
With a perfect 2-0 record in his Rising Stars career, Mathurin's sophomore season continues to showcase his growth, averaging 14.1 points, 3.8 rebounds, and 1.9 assists per game.
