Golden State Warriors Head Coach Steve Kerr has inked a historic two-year, $35 million contract extension, making him the highest-paid coach in NBA history.

Kerr's impressive tenure, boasting four championships, six Finals appearances, and an NBA Coach of the Year award, has now been rewarded with a salary exceeding even some of his star players.

Despite the Warriors currently holding a 28-26 record and residing in 10th place in the Western Conference, Kerr's extension signals the franchise's continued confidence in his ability to lead them to success.

With this deal aligning with the end of Stephen Curry's contract in 2026, speculation arises whether this marks a potential "last dance" for the dynamic duo.

As Kerr navigates his 10th season with the Warriors, questions loom over the team's future, especially with key players like Klay Thompson facing free agency and uncertainties surrounding the current roster's ability to maintain Western Conference dominance.

The next two seasons will be crucial for the Warriors, offering the opportunity to either reestablish themselves as contenders or transition from the golden era that brought multiple championships.

Kerr's new salary catapults him from the NBA's fourth-highest paid head coach to the very top, surpassing coaching giants like Gregg Popovich and Erik Spoelstra

His impressive coaching record of 765-501, coupled with his playing days that yielded five championship rings, solidifies Kerr's status as a basketball legend both on and off the court. (SOURCE: Yahoo Sports)
