Victor Wembanyama addressed the media's inquiries about not making the 2024 NBA All-Star Game roster in a post-game press conference on Wednesday.

Despite an outstanding rookie season with the San Antonio Spurs, Wembanyama's focus remains on team improvement and winning games rather than personal accolades.

When questioned about his reaction to not being selected for the All-Star Game, Wembanyama responded, "Of course, being selected as an All-Star would have been a great achievement, especially in my rookie year.

But honestly, my focus is more on trying to win games and get better as a team than this. But of course, it's motivation."

The 7-foot-tall forward showcased his skills in the game against the Miami Heat, finishing with an impressive stat line of 18 points, 13 rebounds, three assists, one steal, and one block. Despite his individual success, the Spurs fell short, losing 116-104 to the Heat.

Wembanyama's season averages highlight his impact on the court, boasting 20.4 points, 10.3 rebounds, 3.2 assists, 1.2 steals, and 3.1 blocks per game. However, the Spurs find themselves in rebuilding mode, currently holding the 15th seed in the competitive Western Conference with a 10-41 record after 51 games.

As the Spurs face challenges in their rebuilding phase, Wembanyama remains dedicated to the team's improvement. The upcoming matchup against Paolo Banchero and the Orlando Magic on Thursday presents another opportunity for the young squad to showcase their potential. (SOURCE: Sports Illustrated)
