Alperen Şengün showcased his prowess as the Houston Rockets' cornerstone, outshining Victor Wembanyama in a 114-101 triumph against the San Antonio Spurs.

Şengün's stellar performance included a career-best 45 points, emphasizing his offensive dominance against the highly-touted Wembanyama.

The Turkish native's strategic shift to a more physical game plan proved effective, leading to a remarkable 30 second-half points and an impressive defensive display with 16 rebounds and five steals.

Coach Ime Udoka praised the team's defensive versatility, with Dillon Brooks and Jabari Smith Jr. setting the tone that stifled Wembanyama's offensive rhythm.

The Rockets' aggressive defense disrupted Wembanyama's positioning and denied him opportunities, ultimately limiting him to 10 points on 4 of 10 shooting.

Cam Whitmore, rebounding from a lackluster performance in Phoenix, played a pivotal role off the bench, contributing 19 points and eight rebounds.

Whitmore's aggressive approach, especially against Wembanyama, played a crucial role in the Rockets' second-half dominance.

With this standout performance, Alperen Şengün solidifies his position as the Rockets' future cornerstone, providing hope for a promising future in Houston's ongoing rebuild. (Source: Sports Illustrated)
