Anthony Davis Dominates Despite Lakers' Turnovers, Securing Victory Against Short-Handed Timberwolves

In a game filled with turnovers and an undermanned Timberwolves squad, Anthony Davis delivered an unprecedented performance, showcasing his prowess on both ends of the court. 

Despite trailing as the fourth quarter began, Davis and the Lakers orchestrated a remarkable 21-4 run, sealing a 120-109 victory at Crypto.com Arena.

Minnesota faced challenges with key players missing, including the absence of Karl-Anthony Towns due to a meniscus tear. The Lakers took advantage of the situation, adding to their recent victories over notable teams such as the Clippers, Wizards, Thunder, and Bucks during a seven-game stretch at their home base.

Despite grappling with a shoulder bruise sustained on Friday, Davis, who turns 31 on Monday, displayed an extraordinary all-around game. He became the first NBA player to achieve at least 27 points, 25 rebounds, seven steals, five assists, and three blocks in a single game.

Lakers' coach Darvin Ham praised Davis, labeling him a "monster all night." LeBron James, returning after sitting out the previous game, led the Lakers with 29 points, while Austin Reaves contributed 19 points. Rui Hachimura and D'Angelo Russell also made valuable scoring contributions.

The Timberwolves, led by Anthony Edwards and Naz Reid with 25 points each, capitalized on the Lakers' 20 turnovers, converting them into 28 points. Despite the win, Ham emphasized the need to address the turnover issue for the Lakers to maintain their upward trajectory.


The victory pushed the Lakers six games over .500 for the first time since the 2020-21 season's end, reflecting a positive trend for the team. Looking ahead, Davis expressed confidence in the Lakers' ability to compete against any opponent, viewing the challenging matchups as valuable tests leading up to the playoffs.
