Ben Simmons' agent, Bernie Lee, has shouldered the blame for the NBA star's recurring injury setbacks, particularly the nerve impingement in his back.

Despite ongoing efforts to address the issue without resorting to surgery, Simmons remains on the day-to-day injury list, raising concerns about his availability for the remainder of the season.

Simmons, traded to the Brooklyn Nets in 2022, has struggled to maintain consistent physical health, playing in only 57 out of a possible 178 games since joining the team.

The financial burden of his lucrative contract, coupled with the disappointment of his limited on-court presence, has led Lee to publicly accept responsibility for the situation.

"We continue to try and find non-surgical options to allow Ben to move forward on a permanent basis, and that is where this is my responsibility, and I am [the] one to blame," Lee stated. He emphasized his commitment to exploring new approaches during the offseason to break the cycle of injuries that have hampered Simmons throughout his tenure with the Nets.

Nets interim coach Kevin Ollie acknowledged Simmons' day-to-day status and expressed hope for his swift return. However, Lee's comments hint at potential extended absence plans, as he discusses implementing offseason processes to ensure Simmons can resume his career at peak performance levels.

Lee, aware of the criticism Simmons has faced for prolonged absences, appears determined to shield his client's reputation and pave the way for a successful comeback. As Simmons faces uncertainties about his future contracts, Lee's commitment to finding lasting solutions remains a focal point as the NBA star navigates another setback in his ongoing battle with injuries.
