During Sunday's game against the Sacramento Kings, Houston Rockets' center Alperen Sengun reportedly escaped major injury after a harrowing fall left him in a wheelchair.

ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski revealed on Monday that Sengun suffered a severely sprained right ankle and a bone bruise in his right knee, thankfully avoiding more serious damage.

The incident occurred in the final minute of the game while contesting a layup, with Sengun landing awkwardly on his right leg.

Although a timetable for his return remains uncertain, the news comes as a relative relief in Houston, dispelling initial fears of broken bones or torn ligaments.

The 21-year-old Sengun, a key player in the Rockets' rebuild and youth movement, has been a standout in his third NBA season, averaging impressive statistics before the incident.

Despite the setback, his avoidance of long-term injury and lengthy rehab is considered positive for both his personal development and the Rockets' continued progress.

With 18 games left in the season, the Rockets face an uphill battle to qualify for the Western Conference play-in, currently sitting 5.5 games behind the 10th-place Golden State Warriors at 29-35.

The focus now shifts to Sengun's recovery and potential return for the crucial stretch run, as Houston remains hopeful for the continued contributions of their promising young center. (Source: YAHOO SPORTS)
