Robert F. Kennedy Jr. is eyeing New York Jets quarterback Aaron Rodgers and former Minnesota governor Jesse Ventura as top contenders for his running mate on an independent presidential ticket in November, according to a report by the New York Times.
Kennedy confirmed to the newspaper that both Rodgers and Ventura are under consideration.
Rodgers, a four-time NFL MVP and Super Bowl champion, has been in frequent communication with Kennedy over the past month, expressing his support for the independent candidate.

While it remains unclear if either candidate has been formally offered the position, both have reportedly welcomed the overtures. Kennedy, who announced his independent candidacy in October, plans to announce his vice-presidential pick in the coming weeks, having approached several other potential candidates.
The registration of the domain name kennedyrodgers.com last week further fueled speculation about a potential partnership between Kennedy and Rodgers.
However, Rodgers' commitment to the NFL poses a significant conflict with a potential political career. Despite expressing enthusiasm about returning to the Jets for the upcoming season, he has not publicly addressed the possibility of running for office.
The Jets organization declined to comment on the report, but the franchise has had ties to presidential politics in the past, with owner Woody Johnson previously serving as the ambassador to the United Kingdom under former President Donald Trump. (Source: ESPN)
