The Golden State Warriors have tasked veteran leader Draymond Green with mentoring emerging star Jonathan Kuminga as part of a recent contract extension.

Kuminga's meteoric rise into the starting lineup has been nothing short of impressive, showcasing confidence and skill on the court. Since the All-Star break, he's been averaging an impressive 19.2 points per game on 51.6% shooting, coupled with 5.1 rebounds per game. This significant improvement has thrust him into the conversation for the Most Improved Player award.

The shift in Kuminga's performance can be attributed to multiple factors, including Coach Steve Kerr's increased trust in the team's youth. However, a pivotal element has been Green's invaluable mentorship throughout the season.

Last summer, as part of Green's lucrative four-year, $100 million contract extension, Warriors' owner Joe Lacob emphasized the importance of Green taking Kuminga under his wing. Green affirmed his commitment to this mentoring role, even during his suspension this season, by providing Kuminga with post-game feedback and tips via text messages and video clips.

The investment in Kuminga's development is already paying dividends for the Warriors, as they gear up for a postseason run. His synergy with Green and Stephen Curry is expected to be central to the team's success, with Kuminga's athleticism and versatility adding a dynamic dimension to their gameplay.

Looking ahead, the Warriors face financial considerations as Kuminga becomes extension-eligible this summer. Balancing his contract negotiations with those of key players like Klay Thompson and Chris Paul will be crucial for the team's long-term strategy.

Kuminga's remarkable turnaround from a period of doubt earlier in the season reflects not only his growth but also the cohesive vision of the Warriors organization in fostering talent and building a competitive roster.
