Los Angeles Lakers' star player Anthony Davis recently voiced his disappointment after not being named a finalist for the NBA's Defensive Player of the Year award. The three finalists announced were Rudy Gobert, Victor Wembanyama, and Bam Adebayo.

Speaking to ESPN, Davis expressed his frustration, saying, "I'll never get [Defensive Player of the Year]. They're not giving it to me. The league doesn't like me. I'm the best defensive player in the league."

Despite his confidence in his defensive abilities, Davis understands the importance of team success, stating, "I'm just going to do what I got to do to help the team win and try to play for a championship."

While Davis has earned All-Defense honors multiple times and has consistently been one of the top interior defenders since his rookie year, he has yet to win the Defensive Player of the Year award. He has finished fourth, third, and second in previous years' voting.

This season, Davis showcased his defensive prowess by averaging 2.3 blocks and 1.2 steals per game. He ranked fourth in the league in blocks and was one of only two players to average at least two blocks and one steal.

Despite not being a finalist this year, Davis remains confident in his defensive versatility, stating, "Whatever it is defensively, I'm able to do."

While Davis may feel overlooked this season, his defensive contributions continue to be vital for the Lakers, helping them stay competitive on the defensive end.
