The Los Angeles Lakers celebrated a win in their final game of the season against the New Orleans Pelicans on Sunday. However, the victory was marred by center Anthony Davis leaving the game due to a back spasm.

With less than six minutes left on the clock, Davis had to exit the court during the Lakers' 123-103 win. This win secured the Lakers the No. 8 seed in the Western Conference. They are now set to face the Pelicans again in a play-in game on Tuesday for the 7th seed.

Despite the setback, Davis is hopeful he can play on Tuesday. He also pointed to a play involving Pelicans forward Larry Nance Jr. as the cause of his injury.

Davis seemed to injure his back while trying to make a putback layup. While in the air, Nance made slight contact with Davis. Davis then clutched his lower back and, after a brief moment on the court, moved to the sideline to stretch his back. Eventually, he went to the locker room and did not return to the game. At the time of his exit, the Lakers were leading 114-94.

After the game, Lakers head coach Darvin Ham shared that Davis had a back spasm, which he believed was not a major concern. Davis also expressed optimism about playing on Tuesday and highlighted Nance's play as "dangerous."

"He gave me a little shove in the back," Davis explained. "My back locked up when I was in the air. It's a dangerous play, even though I know he's not a dirty player. I'm confident I'll play on Tuesday. I'll get treatment and see how I feel."

Luckily for Davis, the Lakers won't be traveling, staying in New Orleans ahead of Tuesday's game.

The winner of Tuesday's match will claim the 7th seed and face the Denver Nuggets in the playoffs' first round. The loser will have another chance on Friday to secure the 8th seed.
