Kansas City Chiefs have secured their star tight end Travis Kelce with a new contract, making him the highest-paid tight end in the NFL.
Initially reported as an extension, it was later clarified to be a raise on his existing contract, bumping his earnings to $34.25 million over two years.
This puts Kelce at an average salary of $17.125 million per year, surpassing Darren Waller's $17 million.
Kelce, a nine-time Pro Bowler, has been pivotal in the Chiefs' recent success, including four Super Bowl appearances and three trophies in the last five years.
Quarterback Patrick Mahomes expressed his excitement about the contract extension.
