Bronny James stood out at the 2024 NBA Draft Combine, not just because of his famous father, but also due to his journey back from a scary heart condition. Despite playing 25 games at USC and showcasing his skills, the fear of his cardiac arrest still lingers, as he admitted during the event.

James, who suffered cardiac arrest last July, underwent a rigorous process to gain medical clearance to continue pursuing his NBA dreams. Although he's eager to move forward, he confessed to reporters that the ordeal still weighs on his mind.

"It’s still lingering. My parents were a big factor of believing in me and giving me the love and affection that I needed at that time. I still think about everything that could happen but I just love the game so much it just overpowers everything," James shared during the combine.

Despite the setback, James emphasized his perseverance, stating, "It was a tough time for sure but all this work I’ve put in, it’s just really built me into someone that will never give up and it paid off because I put the work into that situation and I’m back to where I want to be."

While James' height measurement fell short of expectations, he showcased impressive skills during the combine, including a strong vertical jump and proficiency in the 3-point shooting drill. However, some scouts remain skeptical about his readiness for the NBA.

James acknowledges that he won't necessarily follow in his father's footsteps and aims to carve his own path in the league. He cited players like Davion Mitchell, Jrue Holiday, and Derrick White as role models for excelling in specific roles within a team.

Addressing speculation about playing alongside his father in the NBA, James expressed his focus on earning his spot in the league based on his own merit, rather than relying on his father's legacy to secure opportunities.

As the draft approaches, the uncertainty surrounding James' future remains, but he's determined to prove himself as a player independent of his father's fame.
