Dustin Poirier, a highly respected UFC fighter known as "The Diamond," has achieved much in his career but believes one thing is still missing: the undisputed UFC world title.
Poirier, recognized for his thrilling performances earning him the nickname "Fight of the Night," has faced tough competition in both the lightweight and featherweight divisions, crafting an impressive resume. However, he feels his journey won't be complete without the undisputed title.
Reflecting on his interim title win in 2019, Poirier emphasized its significance, having defeated Max Holloway, then the reigning featherweight champion, on a 12-fight win streak. Despite this accomplishment, Poirier acknowledges the interim belt is not the same as being undisputed.

Expressing his determination, Poirier stated, "I said it over and over again. That’s the last spot. What else can I do in this sport?" With his upcoming bout against UFC lightweight champion Islam Makhachev at UFC 302, Poirier sees it as his third chance to claim the coveted undisputed title.
Despite being considered a significant underdog against Makhachev, Poirier remains undeterred. He has faced such odds before, notably in his previous attempt against Khabib Nurmagomedov, Makhachev's mentor and friend.
For Poirier, the undisputed UFC title represents the pinnacle of his career, and he is determined to achieve it, regardless of the challenges ahead.
