Oleksandr Usyk defeated Tyson Fury by split decision to become the undisputed heavyweight champion at Kingdom Arena in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. This victory unified all four major boxing belts, establishing Usyk as the top fighter in the heavyweight division.
The match lived up to the fans' expectations. Usyk started strong, landing clean shots in the first round. Despite being the smaller man, he forced Fury into defensive positions with his aggressive approach.
Fury, known for his resilience, began to find his rhythm in the third round, using his jab effectively and pushing the fight to the center of the ring. By the fifth round, Fury had figured out Usyk’s timing and started landing more punches, particularly with his uppercut.

Usyk, however, didn't back down. In the seventh round, he regained momentum with sharp combinations that cut Fury. The highlight came in the ninth round when Usyk landed a powerful combination that had Fury wobbling against the ropes, forcing the referee to give a standing eight count.
Despite this, Fury recovered and managed to finish the fight strong, leading to the judges’ decision. Usyk’s win is a significant achievement, especially since he only moved up to the heavyweight division in 2019 after dominating as a cruiserweight.

Usyk’s promoter, Frank Warren, revealed that a rematch clause is in place, with the loser having the option to call for a second fight. This could happen as soon as October. Fury’s improved condition compared to his last fight against MMA star Francis Ngannou suggests he could come back even stronger if a rematch occurs.
